SNAP-8™consists of 8 amino acids and a mimic of the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 which competes with SNAP-25 for a position in the SNARE Complex. If the SNARE complex is slightly destabilized, the vesicle can not release neurotransmitters efficiently and therefore muscle contraction is attenuated, preventing the formation of lines and wrinkles. Based on SNAP-8, BJY generated PSNAP-8 which is a derivative of SNAP-8 by adding proline into the N-terminal of SNAP-8. PSNAP-8 shows improved efficacy(11%) than SNAP-8. In addition, PSNAP-8 can be used in production of multimer form in fermentation.
